Karen Steede Terry
bio

Karen is self employed as an independent software instructor and consultant in a high tech field since 1996. Karen holds teaching certificates from four different GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GPS (Global Positioning Systems) manufacturers. She was the first woman to obtain two key certifications in her field.

In the ten years she has been self-employed, many women have approached her, wanting to do something flexible with their careers while they raised kids. As a new mom herself, Karen wrested for many years with the “traditional” role of wives and mothers versus having a career. The result is her second bestselling book, Full-Time Woman, Part-Time Career, the professional woman’s guide to building a flexible home-based business.

A member of the National Speakers Association (NSA), Karen is a regular speaker at GIS and other conferences. Karen teaches professional, career-oriented and technical women how to use their existing skills to go into consulting, freelance writing, training, coaching and other areas. Her topic is “Part-Time Careers for Full-Time Women: Building a Flexible Career using the Skills You Already Have.”

Her presentation is appropriate for new moms, newlyweds who haven’t had children yet, former career women who quit working to become stay-at-home moms, career changers, retirees, and anyone wanting to leave the corporate world for something more flexible.
